Live event "ozm_sis vol.2" (performer)

At the audio-visual event ozm_sis vol.2, I gave a performance that combined my singing, accompanied by my own playing, with video by MATSUDA Momoka projected across three screens.

The third song in particular took "the gaze" as its theme, focusing on the relationships between video, performance, and the act of filming. The visuals used live-action footage in which Matsuda had filmed acquaintances going about their everyday lives just as they were, and during the performance Matsuda also filmed me in real time as I played. By recursively bringing the act of filming, already present in the footage, into the ongoing space of the performance, we attempted to create a structure in which the events on screen and the events unfolding in front of the audience overlapped.

Furthermore, what the people in the footage were doing was not acting but a record of daily life. By presenting it again within the context of a live performance, we aimed for an experience in which the boundaries between documentary and fiction, and between record and present event, begin to waver.

Later, in collaboration with Matsuda, I reworked the footage used in the visuals into the video work Manazashi (The Gaze).
